This upcoming Federal election is a chance for the candidates – who are vying for your vote – to show you their position on treatment of refugees and people seeking asylum. 

Will you take a few minutes to send an email to your local candidates asking them if they support fairness, freedom, safety and humanity for refugees and people seeking asylum?

Contacting your local candidates: this is a powerful way to send a message that voters support refugee rights and get them to commit to pro-refugee policies.

This year, the ASRC identified four key priority areas for the election:

• Fairness: permanent protection for refugees stuck on temporary visas.
• Freedom: freedom from detention and a real solution for resettlement.
• Safety net: a universal safety net for all refugees and people seeking asylum in Australia.
• Safe passage: a generous refugee program for those fleeing violence and war.
