Refugees and people seeking asylum are being ripped from our communities and deported to Nauru. Your voice matters.

Email your MP today to demand the Albanese Government stop the deportations and end the cruelty of offshore detention for good. 

People who came here seeking safety deserve the same compassion that we’d expect for ourselves and our families. Yet for decades, successive governments have inflicted needless cruelty on refugees and people seeking asylum by abandoning them in unsafe and untenable conditions in Nauru and Papua New Guinea.[1] 

Now Labor is expanding this cruelty by signing a shady $2.5 billion deal with the Nauruan Government, passing legislation that strips people of their legal rights and attempting to deport more people to Nauru. 

At the last election, our communities voted against the politics of fear and division. We saw what was happening in the United States, with ICE tearing people from their communities, and we resoundingly rejected it. 

We all want to live in a country that treats people with fairness and respect. Everyone should be treated equally under the law. No one should be punished twice - if you’ve served your time, you shouldn’t be deported to a remote prison island, simply because you are a refugee.

This is a slippery slope. If we accept some people being arbitrarily deported to Nauru - even when their refugee claims have been accepted - where will it end? What other families will be torn apart?

We won't accept people being arbitrarily deported from our communities.
