Let them stay for good

Ailin is 17. Recently, she went on national television, sharing her story on A Current Affair so people across Australia could see what the offshore detention system is doing to young people like her.

She said it was nerve-racking. But she did it so people would understand what it means to grow up in limbo, and because she wants the Albanese Government to act.

Ailin is one of around 700 people brought to Australia from offshore detention for urgent medical treatment. Many have now been here for years. Some, like Ailin, arrived as children and have grown into young adults in the communities they call home.

Yet they remain on insecure, short-term visas, with no pathway to permanency and no certainty about what comes next.

Ailin arrived in Australia when she was just 3 years old. Apart from a year in offshore detention on Nauru, she has spent most of her life here - going to school, building friendships, and growing up like any other young person.

But unlike her classmates, she is forced to live with constant uncertainty.

Take urgent action for Ailin and the 700 people still living in limbo. Sign the petition.

It’s time to let them stay for good.
