Call your senator to stop Labor's Brutal Bills
In a move that defies all logic, this week the Albanese Government has dredged up two deeply flawed Bills that were so widely condemned when they were first introduced, they failed to pass Parliament.
-
- The Trump-esque Entry Ban and Deportation Bill: this is the Bill that would ban people from targeted countries from entering Australia and force refugees — including those fleeing violence and oppression — back to places where their lives are at risk.
- The Mobile Phone Ban Bill: first championed by Peter Dutton under the Coalition, this Bill would strip people in detention of their only connection to family, friends, and legal assistance by banning mobile phones.
These Bills are on top of the much-criticised Offshore Expansion and Deportation Bill – and Labor wants all three brutal bills passed before Thursday.
The single most powerful action we can take right now is to call our senators and demand they reject these cruel and unjust Bills.
These bills will have far-reaching implications for tens of thousands of people in our community, with even the Home Affairs Department conceding that up to 80,000 people could risk deportation.1
