Brisbane Palm Sunday Rally for Refugees

Palm Sunday - the Sunday before Easter - is a day when our communities traditionally come together in a spirit of peace and welcome. RSVP below to join with other ASRC supporters at this year’s Palm Sunday rally for refugees in Brisbane.

The Albanese government’s announcement of a pathway to permanence for 19,000 refugees living with Temporary Protection and Safe Haven Enterprise Visas was a people-powered victory of compassion and unity over fear and division.

But many thousands of people who came for safety a decade ago were left out of this announcement. They need a pathway to permanence and stability to rebuild their lives as part of our community.

Too many people seeking asylum are still being denied the right to work, study or access mainstream social safety nets.

And last month, this government voted against legislation offering urgent evacuation to refugees trapped in PNG and Nauru for a decade.

This Palm Sunday, let’s join together with refugees, as we call on this government to live up to its promise to bring us together and promote unity and optimism, not fear and division.

Come at meet other ASRC supporters at King George Square at 1pm - look out for the ASRC banner!
